As Final Fantasy XIV's North American fan event looms, players are speculating about where the game will go after the events of Endwalker. With the launch of the new expansion, people started talking about what Jobs would bring to Final Fantasy XIV in the near future, but this time around, the atmosphere around the topic was a little different. Considering that there are 19 classes available to complete endgame content like Pandaemonium Raids, and that Blue Mage is the only restricted class at the time of writing, Final Fantasy 14 already has enough classes to try and balance with each content update. Players can prepare enough Final Fantasy XIV Gil in the game.
Given that this year's Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest will be the game's first live event since the COVID-19 pandemic, speculation surrounding the convention has reached fever pitch. Tickets for the Fan Festival earlier this year sold out quickly, though tickets were dealt with through player-exclusive draws and random queues from the public. While the opening keynote will likely touch on the upcoming graphics update and show some clips about the as-yet-unnamed expansion, the hype surrounding the new Jobs may be tempered by some expectations.
FF14: Understanding their roles
As for where Jobs might appear next in Final Fantasy 14, Square Enix may reveal which roles they will take on first. At the Endwalker reveal event in early 2021, "Final Fantasy 14" producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that Endwalker's new profession will be a healer and a melee DPS, and their identities as sages and gods of death will be revealed at a later event. So far, Final Fantasy 14 has not announced the same new class as the previous expansion character, so it seems unlikely that another healer or melee DPS will be announced.
Both tank and healer characters are among the most difficult to balance in Final Fantasy 14. As such, adding a fifth tank without a fifth healer after the release of Gunbreaker in the Shadowbringers expansion is also unlikely. With these considerations in mind, there is another factor to consider. There are 19 jobs to balance at the highest level, and the Final Fantasy XIV development team may be busy with more. Still, this makes ranged physical DPS and spellcasting DPS characters the most likely to get new classes in Final Fantasy XIV.
FF14: Feng Shui and the Blitz Case
Feng Shui Master is one of the most popular speculations among players if Final Fantasy 14 will add new caster DPS. Feng Shui masters use the surrounding land to cause damage from a distance, and are seen in Final Fantasy XIV as the astrologers and white mages (aka healers) of the Far East. However, players have speculated through hidden objects in Final Fantasy XIV's main storyline that the Land of Melassidia could be the main setting for the next expansion, which could serve as a starting point for potential geomancers.
The latest chapter of Hildibrand's mission showcases the Warrior of Light achieving impressive athletic feats, from volleyball to soccer and basketball. However, only one sport in the Final Fantasy series is a combination of these real-world sports. The sport, Bolt Bolt, originated in Final Fantasy 10 and is Spira's primary spectator sport. While Lightning Ball has been a long-requested feature on the Mandeville Gold Disc, "Lightning Ball" could work as a potential ranged physical DPS. Between the Hildibrand mission and the recently released Final Fantasy XIV aerobics video, it remains to be seen whether these plausible hints will lead to anything.
