The New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets come into Saturday’s game for the second night of a back-to-back at Nationwide Arena from different directions. The Blue Jackets (9-6-1) headed west back to Columbus after a 2-1 victory on Friday night in Washington over the Capitals Los Angeles Kings T-Shirts Authentic , the defending Stanley Cup champions. The Rangers (7-7-2) traveled 180 miles south from Detroit after a heartbreaking 3-2 loss in overtime to the Red Wings that ended their four-game winning streak.Article continues below ...The Blue Jackets didn’t want to talk about facing the Capitals for the first time since losing a six-game series to the eventual champions in the first round of the playoffs last season after leading 2-0 and dropping Game 3 in overtime. But they clearly played inspired hockey with hard checking and stellar goaltending.“I think they know they’re playing against a pretty good team,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “They have to push and find a way to beat them. I don’t think you need an extra push.”But when push came to shove, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was there for the Blue Jackets, finishing with 33 saves. He weathered an onslaught by the Capitals in the final minutes, including the final 43 seconds when Washington had a six-on-four advantage after pulling goalie Braden Holtby. The lone goal that Bobrovsky allowed was on a second-period power play.Bobrovsky has begun to return to his Vezina Trophy form after a slow start this season.“He was outstanding in the first period,” Tortorella said. “We could have been down 4-1. We were so sloppy.”Bobrovsky or backup Joonas Korpisalo could start in goal against the Rangers.“I will enjoy this one,” Bobrovsky said. “It was a tough game. We know Washington has a good team. It wasn’t easy. We defended well. I thought we played a strong game.”Each of the Blue Jackets’ two goals was scored on a power play. Oliver Bjorkstrand, who had been a healthy scratch in the previous game, made the most of his opportunity and struck first in the opening period after taking a between-the-legs pass from teammate Nick Foligno and finding an open net.Bjorkstrand, who led the Blue Jackets with five shots on goal, was only in the lineup because Cam Atkinson was out with an illness. Atkinson might return against the Rangers.“I needed to play some good hockey and it felt good,” Bjorkstrand said. “It was nice to get a goal.“I won some battles and I played hard. The line carried some great chances. I felt good and the battles were good for me. Overall, I was happy with it.”Anthony Duclair happily delivered what proved to be the winning goal at 5:32 of the third period when he chipped the puck past Holtby from the left side of the net.As a result of a second consecutive win, the Blue Jackets moved atop the Metropolitan Division standings with 19 points. The Rangers were on a roll before stumbling in Detroit, giving up the winning goal with 5.1 seconds left in overtime after squandering a 2-0 lead.“We cheated the game with a 2-0 lead Los Angeles Kings Hoodies Authentic , and you see the result,” Rangers coach David Quinn said, according to the team’s website. “I would have thought we would have learned that lesson now, but we obviously haven’t. You can’t stop playing in this league.”New York’s two goals came on power plays in the second period.“This one hurts because we had complete control of this game for so long,” Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist said. “We know we should have come out of this one with two points, and now we have to be happy just to get one.”Chris Kreider leads the Rangers with seven goals this season and Mika Zibanejad has a team-best eight assists and 14 points.“We played with confidence for two periods and then we let them right back into the game,” Rangers defenseman Marc Staal said. “We stopped playing with confidence and started throwing the puck away, and you can’t do that in the other team’s rink. We needed to stay aggressive.” DETROIT — The Boston Bruins have dominated the Detroit Red Wings for the past few seasons.Going into Wednesday’s matchup, the Bruins (11-6-3) are 15-1-1 in their last 17 games against the Red Wings (9-9-2) and 19-2-1 in the last 22, including the playoffs. But they look more like a M.A.S.H. unit because of a rash of injuries. And things got worse Tuesday when the Bruins announced that center and leading scorer Patrice Bergeron will miss four weeks because of a “a rib and sternoclavicular injury” suffered Friday against Dallas.Article continues below ...The Bruins were already without several defensemen, including captain Zdeno Chara (MCL tear, re-evaluated in four weeks), Charlie McAvoy (concussion, injured reserve), Brandon Carlo (upper body Los Angeles Kings Hats Authentic , IR), John Moore (lower body) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion).Defenseman Kevan Miller is expected to return Wednesday from a hand injury. With the injuries, particularly to Chara and Bergeron, Boston coach Bruce Cassidy says star left winger Brad Marchand has to be more of a leader, which means being more disciplined.“Even just to stay focused on the ice for his own personal success and team success and not let the officials frustrate him if he feels there’s a call not going his way,” Cassidy told the Boston Herald about Marchand, who has six goals and 21 points this season. ” … He likes to stir the drink a little, but hopefully some of the (misconducts), or most of them, are behind him now. He’s had a few.”Right winger David Pastrnak leads the NHL with 17 goals and his nine assists give him 26 points, second on the team to Bergeron. After a miserable start (1-7-2), the Red Wings have won eight of 10.“We’ve made big plays at big moments, whether it’s been a save or goal,” coach Jeff Blashill told the Detroit News. “Our goaltenders have played real well, and we’ve gotten a lot of net-front presence … We were in some really close games early in the season and we didn’t win them. Now we’re finding ways to win.”Center Dylan Larkin said it has been quite a difference.“After our start Custom Los Angeles Kings Jerseys , everyone was counting us out. Here we are, the last 10 games, we’ve showed not only the league and our fans but ourselves, that we can play with every team on a nightly basis,”Larkin said. “We’re winning games and we’re having fun and we’re rolling. We need to keep this going.”The young players have also led the way. Larkin, 22, has four goals and 12 points in the 10 games (and leads the team with eight goals and 19 points); forward Andreas Athanasiou, 24, three goals and six points; rookie forward Michael Rasmussen, 19, a goal in three consecutive games, and right winger Anthony Mantha, 24, three goals and an assist in four games.Detroit forward Darren Helm will miss six to eight weeks with a right shoulder injur suffered in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime road win over the New Jersey Devils. The Red Wings will also be without forward Thomas Vanek (knee) and defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (lower body). The Red Wings also sent center Wade Megan to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
